Lab 8 – Feline Extraction Lab

This lab is for veterinarians only. The full lab offering is currently at capacity. Lecture participants may join for the 1-2pm lecture only. Lab participants will continue with hands-on extraction techniques using cadaver heads. Lab capacity is limited to 8 participants and is currently full. If you wish to be placed on the wait list, please email with your request.

The wet lab is designed to allow veterinarians to learn how to extract teeth and increase skills when surgically extracting teeth. Creation of gingival and mucoperiosteal flaps, bone removal, sectioning teeth, elevation of teeth, and luxation of teeth principles will be taught and practiced in order to understand the principles of tooth extraction.

Learning Objectives:
1. Veterinarians will learn the basic principles in surgical extraction of feline teeth including creating a mucoperiosteal flap, sectioning teeth, elevating, and luxating teeth, as well as creating tension free mucoperiosteal flap closures and hints to improve already present extraction skills.
