How to register:

Need to pay by check? Download a PDF Registration Form

1. For each section (full conference, lunch tickets, cocktail party, paper proceedings and laboratories) click the Add to Cart button in the right column to add that option.

2. When you’re ready, you can view the cart to make changes and add additional registrations/tickets for each type. You can register more than one person by making changes in the cart.

IMPORTANT: Only one HVMA member may be added at the reduced rate per registration. If you are also paying for another active HVMA member, they will need to log in with their credentials and register separately, or you can fill out the forms offline here and send with a check or money order.

4. Click “Pay Now.” You’ll be prompted to fill out information for each person you are registering. We highly recommend you select “Yes” when asked to subscribe to conference updates and notifications, as this will be how we communicate schedule changes and grant you access to digital proceedings before the conference.

5. Once you have answered the questions, click Overview.

6. Review the details and click Confirm and Continue to Paypal, then follow the directions. You can use a PayPal account or a credit card to complete payment. You will be returned to the confirmation page after you complete payment.

7. Keep a copy of your registration page for your records. Each registrant will receive a confirmation email and instructions, and the purchaser will receive a separate PayPal receipt by email.

Abstract:
A dynamic lecture series presentation utilizing intraoral clinical radiographs will be presented in order for the veterinarian to understand, learn, and enhance interpretation of intraoral radiographs in the dog and cat.  The importance and necessity of intraoral radiographs will be presented by using clinical case examples.  Normal radiographic dental anatomy to abnormal pathology will be presented to prepare the participants to learn how to assess and make radiographic diagnoses.  Additionally, clinical treatment recommendations based on the intraoral radiographic abnormalities will be presented.  The image-based lectures will be supplemented with comprehensive notes so that the participants can focus on the images, content, and learning during the lectures.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will learn to recognize normal roentgen anatomy of the dentition and the related periodontal structures, endodontic structures and maxillofacial bone in the dog and cat
  • Participants will learn the correct labial mounting technique for viewing intraoral radiographs
  • Participants will learn roentgen signs of periodontal disease, endodontic disease, feline tooth resorption, canine tooth resorption, neoplasia, and common oral/dental pathology
  • Participants will learn the clinical value and necessity of intraoral radiographs in clinical practice

Objectives

  • Optimizing quality of sample submission.  It is found that the most effective way to achieve our goal of reducing pre-analytical errors is to empower the veterinary technicians.  When veterinary technicians have the full picture, not only in the what to do but also the why and how, the quality of sample submission improves.
  • Strengthening communication between the clinic/hospital and laboratory.  The goal is to empower veterinary technicians with the knowledge required to most effectively submit pathology samples to the laboratory.  This includes emphasis on sample handling, labeling and providing a good history. Upon completion of the course, technicians will be able to explain what is clinicopathologic correlation.
  • Optimizing quality of point-of-care diagnostic testing.  The goal of this series is knowing the principles behind the test.  Technicians will be able to recognize and address potential sources of laboratory error and obtain greater job satisfaction.
